Getting started with AI SEO Content Generator

What AI SEO Content Generator does

AI SEO Content Generator writes SEO product content for your WooCommerce store using the AI engine of your choice. Select products, click Generate, and the plugin produces the content fields for each product – focus keyword, SEO title, short and full descriptions, meta description – written to satisfy Rank Math’s on-page checks: the focus keyword generated first and used in the title, headings, and early content, proper HTML structure with H2 headings, sensible keyword density, and a meta description at the right length.

Generation runs in the background: click Generate and the browser returns instantly, jobs are queued in the database and processed by Action Scheduler (the same task system WooCommerce uses), and you watch real-time progress field by field across the selected products. You can close the browser and come back later – generation continues on the server. Timeouts are retried automatically, and old job data is cleaned up after seven days.

Supported AI engines

You bring your own API key for whichever engine you prefer:

  • ChatGPT (OpenAI)
  • Claude (Anthropic)
  • Google Gemini
  • OpenRouter – access to many models through one account
  • Microsoft Azure OpenAI – your own enterprise deployments
  • X.AI Grok

Each engine has a model dropdown with recommendations, so you can pick the balance of quality and cost that suits you.

Installation

  1. Go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin, upload the plugin zip, and click Install Now, then Activate.
  2. The plugin works with WooCommerce and integrates with Rank Math SEO for the SEO field updates.
  3. When licensing arrives for your copy, enter your license key where prompted. Until then the plugin runs unlocked.

Initial setup

1. AI Settings tab

  • AI Engine – choose your provider.
  • API Key – paste your key for that provider.
  • Model – select from the dropdown; recommendations are shown per engine.
  • System Prompt (optional) – global instructions applied to everything generated, such as “Write in a friendly tone for budget-conscious shoppers”. This is the place to fix your brand voice once.
  • Content Length – Standard (default), Long, or Premium.

2. Tools tab

Toggles for what generation actually writes, grouped into content generation (product title, meta description, power words and optional numbers in titles), SEO integration (update Rank Math fields), URL optimization (focus keyword in the URL, with Permalink Manager Pro supported if you use it), and integrations (update image alt tags, compatible with the Auto Image Attributes plugin). Most issues people report trace back to a disabled tool – enable the recommended ones.

3. Prompts tab

The default prompts are tuned for Rank Math’s checks and work as-is. Customize them if you want – click “Available Placeholders” to see what product data you can weave in – and use the System Prompt for voice consistency rather than editing every prompt.

How a generation run works

  1. Select products and click Generate Content.
  2. Jobs are queued; Action Scheduler processes them in the background, one field at a time per product.
  3. The browser polls every few seconds and shows progress (“Generating title for Product #123…”).
  4. When complete, the results are displayed. The focus keyword is generated first, so every other field can be written around it.

Frequently asked questions

Nothing generates when I click the button

Check that your API key is entered and valid for the chosen engine. That is the first and most common cause. The debug log at /wp-content/ai-seo-debug.log records errors from generation runs.

My Rank Math score is still low after generating

Verify the title generation tool is enabled on the Tools tab, check that a focus keyword was actually generated (visible on the product edit page), and confirm the descriptions contain HTML structure. Most low scores trace to tools left disabled.

Should I run it on my whole catalog at once?

Test on a single product first and read the output – confirm the tone, the keyword choice, and the fields being written are what you want. Then scale up; the background queue is built for bulk runs.

Does it cost money per run?

The plugin itself does not charge per generation, but every field generated is a call to your AI provider under your API key, billed by that provider. Content Length and model choice are your cost levers.
